My Mother's Gayle's Story by Barbara Rigg

The highlight of every trip my mother makes to Santa Cruz is her visit to Gayle's Bakery. She brings an empty suitcase, an old red Samonsite, with her initials on the side made from masking tape, so that no one will accidently walk off with it. It's not the suitcase she values but what is inside. You see, she fills this suitcase with Gayle's pastries and flies it back home with her. She's adamant that there are no bakeries in Southern California as good as Gayle's. So she freezes her delicious treasures and treats herself every Sunday to one of Gayle's pastries. When she is almost out of her Gayle's treats, then she starts planning another trip to Santa Cruz.
